Habitat Contracting

Currently our crew is implementing erosion control best management practices for the Holiday Farm Fire on the McKenzie River.  During the spring we will implement weed control and moisture conservation treatments among hundreds of acres of plantings in riparian areas.  These treatments ensure native plants are free to grow and are not taken over by invasive weeds.  The spring and summer months often finds us building fence to protect riparian areas from livestock and in some cases to exclude deer and elk from sensitive riparian areas.  We also water plants stressed by drought during summer months and conduct our inventory and treatments for invasive aquatic weeds.  During the fall of the year we conduct fall treatments at restoration sites and begin our mechanical treatment of the Carmen/Smith power line corridor.  We manage a 20 mile corridor for habitat improvement while keeping the area in compliance with vegetation height restrictions.  The idea is to lock the corridor into a weed free, early seral habitat which supports an abundance of native plants, pollinators, and wildlife.
